These two are happiest when they are together.
I hope that never changes.

Animal hater.

Jenna: This house is not appropriate. I don't think I can be here.
Me: What? Why not?
Jenna: Ummm... you, like, have a mean dog.
Me, laughing.
Jenna, leaving the room: PUT YOUR DOG OUTSIDE!!

Homemade baby food.

I love the idea of making it. But I just don't have enough Sue Heck in me to do everything and unfortunately, making baby food isn't on my list of endeavors right now. But, my sister offered to make some using her way cool vitamix and now we have squash, carrots and sweet potatoes up the wazoo. Macey even made convenient labels for me.

Callie, enjoying the fruits veggies of Melissa's labor.

Thanks, Miss!

I could soooo be a super model. Mom? Dad? Couldn't I be a super model?

I love "The Middle." I totally relate to Sue. She's in that dorky teenage phase and let's be real here -- it's a phase I haven't completely grown out of.

Lately I've really been channeling my inner Sue. Our recent stay-cation involved some silly roadside attractions that could have fit in nicely with Sue's itinerary for the Heck family's road trip to Chicago.

But my latest Sue-ndeavor involves trying something I've never done before. Sue's good at that. And she's good at being blind to the fact that she stinks at most of the things she does. Watch here. That's one difference between the two of us; I know I stink at stuff. But she doesn't let past failures keep her from trying something new and that's kind of inspiring.

So, I've started taking a few classes at the YMCA - spinning, step and water aerobics. Jake and I did the spinning class together and I was quite impressed with him; I, however, sat on the bike, pedaling through "muddy grass" as best I could, while sweat dripped all over the handle bars. The class kicked my trash.

And then there was the step class that was held in a huge room with a mirror lining an entire wall. Really? Is that really necessary? I know I look like a goof; do we need to make it possible for everyone else to see? My goodness. On one hand, I tried to avoid eye contact with myself as much as possible. I didn't want to admit to myself that I look the way I do - doughy, uncoordinated and white. But on the other hand, it was like a train wreck. I couldn't stop watching the crazy girl in the mirror try to do a simple move like step up, swing her leg over a pilates ball then step back down.

Then there's water aerobics which also exposes my whiteness in a major way but at least there's no mirror and the water hides me (until it's time to get out).

But in true Sue fashion, I'm not letting my lack of coordination or my many many many insecurities get the best of me. I'll be back, bike, even though I can barely sit down right now. And you better watch out for that pep in my step. I'm having fun and that's all that matters.

Right Sue?

Day 4

Not too much excitement today. Jenna was a champion at the dentist this morning. No complaining at all! And no cavities! (I have one... lame.) She came away with 3 Barbie stickers, 3 Tinkerbell stickers, a Belle toothbrush and a sparkly red bracelet. That's enough loot to make any girl brave the dentist.
Jake and I ate lunch outside while the girls napped and I rolled up my capris in an attempt to solve my pasty white skin problem. The sun did feel so nice. I think it got up to 84 degrees. Jake treated us to Wendy's Frosties this afternoon and then the best part of the day was just a few minute ago. Jenna was having a tea party. She told me I could not have the tea. Then she said, "If I will be mean, I will be ridiculous."
I can't believe tomorrow is Friday already. But the fun does not end! My parents arrive on Tuesday!
